Maro is a hidden gem, a sleepy little
village just 5 minutes drive from Nerja
town centre. It is completely unspoilt
by tourism, a rare find these days.
Quaint little streets, whitewashed
village houses and balconies overflowing
with flowerpots all add to the charm of
Maro. |

Along the ‘Balcon de
Maro’, little cafes and bars will serve
you with a glass of vino and tapas - a
relaxing place to sit and watch the sun
going down over the glistening waters of
the Mediterranean. |

Away from the crowds, Maro’s beach and
turquoise blue waters are without doubt
a fabulous place for bathing and
snorkeling.
The villagers of Maro certainly know how
to enjoy themselves! Amongst the many
festivals in the area, San Isidro in May
and the Feria in September are a
showpiece and definitely not to be
missed!
Back in 1959, children playing,
discovered the now internationally
renowned ‘Caves of Nerja’. With its
network of caves, ancient cave paintings
and music festivals held within the
caves during July and August, it is a
‘must see’ for any visitor. |
